The police in Aba, Abia State have recovered a blue and white coloured Hiace bus belonging to a sachet water manufacturing company snatched from its driver at Uruah village, Anambra State.
247ureports.com gathered that Police acting on a tip off arrested a suspected member of the gang one Arinze Umeh Obi who hails from Igbo Ukwu in Aguata council area of Anambra State.
On April 29, Obi was said to have come from Onitsha to Aba to collect a balance of N150, 000 from one Chinedu Alo a resident of Azuka Street, Aba who bought the stolen bus from them.
A Police source told our correspondent that while Obi waited for Alo at an agreed location to collect the balance, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Abayi Police Division, Okoro Ikechukwu acting on a tip off sent some of his men who arrested him.
On interrogation, Obi confessed that he and two other members of his gang snatched the bus from the driver at Uruah village in Anambra State.
Alo was later nabbed by the police when he went to the Motor Licensing office in the commercial city to change the particulars of the stolen vehicle to his name.
The source added that when the bus was recovered, Alo had already repainted the bus to use it for commercial purposes.
Contacted on phone, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Abia State Command, Geoffrey Ogbonna who confirmed the incident, added that are ongoing efforts to arrest fleeing members of the gang.
