The Nasarawa state police command has confirmed the arrest of the prime suspect of the murder of Alhaji Zubairu Adamu, the first class chief of Gwom Mama, in Farin Ruwa Development Area of Nasarawa state.
The police commissioner, Ibrahim Idris disclosed this while parading 22 evil merchants apprehended on various crimes and arrested at different locations in the state.
Idris averred that forensic report confirmed that the paramount ruler was poisoned to death. The commissioner said the six suspected murderers were nabbed and charged to court for culpable homicide.
It was stated that on the 15/02/2014 at about 0600hrs, One Abdullahi Zubairu of Kwara village, Farin Ruwa Development Area was reported at Wamba police station that on the same date at about 0430hrs.
The younger sister to the traditional ruler, Hamamatu Zubairu and his step mother Amina Zubairu all of the same address – woke up and told him that his father Alhaji Zubairu Adamu , the first class chief of Gwom Mama of Farin-Ruwa village was found dead in his bedroom at Wamba.
“On receiving this report, Detective attached to Homicide section of Wamba Division immediately mobilized to the scene and cordoned the area, They found the dead chief in his bed, There was sign of syringe injection on both hands and bruises on his neck”.
A search was conducted at the scene, one bottle containing poisonous liquid popularly called “Ota piapia” and Nokia handset were recovered as exhibit – and later five syringes and one used woman sanitary pad were found inside black polythene bag hidden inside the suck-away septic tank.
The commissioner maintained that five prime suspects who were in the compound when the incident occurred namely Amina Zubairu, wife, and also a medical and health worker, Zabba’u Halilu, daughter to the first suspect, James Paul, the driver to the chief.
Other suspect charged to court were Jemimah Yusuf, cousin to the first suspect and Aisha Garba, a friend to the first suspect.
Other suspected criminals include gang of suspected armed robbers arrested on 24/4/2014 at about 1700hrs – who were involved in a gun duel which led to the apprehension of bandits terrorizing Nasarawa Local Government.
Compol stated that one of them was killed while one AK 47, locally made revolver pistol, axe and charms were recovered. He further disclosed that on 30/4/2014 soldiers on patrol led by Corporal Mohammed Wase of the 177 Guard Battallion Keffi arrested 5 bandits namely Yusuf Gomna, John Akumshi,Eggon Danladi,Malu Saidu and Hussaini all of Alwaza community of Doma Local Government with deadly weapons and were charged to court.
He further said on 30/4/2014 police arrested Samaila Abubakar Osu, Danladi Sule suspected to be gang of armed robbers and deadly weapons recovered from them.
Ibrahim Idris said other criminals arrested are those involved in the snatching of school bus belonging to Vine International Academy, Chere Nursery and Primary school, a gangster that met his waterloo is Peter Vincent of Shakaruku of Toto Local Government was arrested with one locally made pistol.21/4/2014 police arrested Mohammed Nanike and Kafin Shanu village of Nasarawa with locally made pistol ,one 9mm live ammunition, one expanded 9mm ammunition, two cutlasses and four handsets.
Other criminals were three suspected armed robbers – Jamilu Ado of Kaka Maina street,Auwal, Adamu of Akwanga town and Bamaiyi Mustapha for robbing Amby Pharmacy located at No 3 Makurdi road. The suspects confessed that they robbed Nagoda Maidoya filling station along Makurdi road – in addition to terrorizing people of Niger and Kwara state.
