Four Policemen Sacked for Collecting Money for Bail

Four Police Officers were dismissed for collecting money for bailing suspects while two are currently Facing Orderly Room Trial by the Anambra State Police Command.
 
Disclosing this to newsmen during his tour to Fegge Police Division in Onitsha South Local Government Area, Anambra State, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Usman Gwari reminded the officers and men of the division that they would not be spared in the event of collecting money to bail any suspects.
 
Gwari urged men of the division to desist from service to self and maintain a good reputation to themselves adding that he will not tolerate indecency in the cause of duty.
 
The Police Commissioner who was flanked by the Onitsha Police Area Commander, Mr. Benjamin Wordu, also urged officers to be prompt in their duty adding that once anybody caught collecting money for bail, the person is as good as sacked.
  

Earlier in his speech the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area, Mr. Rabiu Garba (SP) expressed satisfaction that through proactive measure, the Division has been able to fight crime to submission.
 
His words, “due to the commercial nature of the Division all manners of people are attracted here and this makes the area volatile but our proactive measures like extensive patrols and intelligence gathering have made the are relatively crime free”.
 
He expressed satisfaction that there is a change of attitude on the part of his officers and men in a positive direction.
 
Highlight of the event was the commissioning of recreation hall by the Police Commissioner.
 
The commissioner commended Chief Jasper Eli, chairman of Transglobe Pharamaceutical company, Chief Chukwuka Akpotuo, member of Onitsha country club and Chief Gowdin Ubatu for their contribution towards the constructing of the hall.
