Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime has urged Nigerians to intensify prayers over the activities of Boko Haram insurgents, stating that Nigeria seems to be at cross-roads.

Chime spoke yesterday while addressing members of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT who stormed Government House, Enugu to protest over the abduction of girls of Government Secondary School, Chibok by Boko Haram members.

Before storming government house, the teachers had marched round the major streets in the state demanding the unconditional release of over 200 girls being held by the Boko Haram terrorists.

Chime, who was represented by his Senior Special Assistant on inter party relations and conflict resolution, Dr. Chris Asadu said he was optimistic that the security challenges would be surmounted.

“There is no well meaning Nigerian who will sit down and clap for the insurgents as they go around killing and destroying institutions.

“Every well meaning Nigerian should be praying for Nigeria; the country seems to be at cross-roads”.

“However, the government is doing everything possible to bring back these girls safe and alive.

“By the grace of God, these demonic activities of people anointed by the devil himself will come to an end”, Chime added.

He called for serious collaboration between the members of the public and security agents and urged Nigerians to intensify prayers for the country.

“Let us be on our knees because what man cannot do, God can do it.We want to also seize this opportunity to call on Enugu residents and Nigerians generally to shine their eyes; report any strange person or activity to security agents. We shall conquer these enemies of our nation”, he emphasized.

Earlier, the NUT Principal Secretary, Comrade Sam Umo-Inyang had urged the federal government to show true concern to the families of 173 teachers killed by terrorists in Borno and Yobe States.

“It is pertinent at this time to call on Nigerian Government to bring back our girls safe and alive”, the teachers also demanded.
