45Years old man docked for 12 years in prison for sodomy with 10 years
old boy in Jigawa tsada village of Dutse local government [15 minute
drive from the state capital of jigawa state], the 45years old man
Malam Nura Ahmed jigawar tsada was arrested by members of the public
and handed over to Nigerian police last week
The presiding judge justice Ubale Ahmed taura said the 45 years old
man has confessed and as a result of that the court docked the
suspect to 12years in prison to serve as lesson to others.
According to the judge, the court has ordered his detention in prison
based on the fact gathered and his confessional statement in the court.
The Judge explained that the sodomy case went against section 284 of the
Jigawa panel code – so court sentenced the suspect to 12
years imprisonment.
Adding that the court has observed there was increases of rape cases
and sodomy cases reported to the security agencies in the state and
so many cases related cases were treated in court – for that
reason the court took serious measure to serve as a deterrent to
Taura said the court has ruled its judgment to the suspect but still he
has the power to seek for his right within the period of three month
within which he can appealed
.
In another development the jigawa state government has pardoned 14 inmates –
10 out of them with minimal cases related to fighting –
while the remaining 4 were people with criminal cases that has to do with
robbery and were all sentence to die by hanging.
