Taraba Acting Governor Imposes 24-Hour Curfew In Southern Taraba

Following the high rate of killing of innocent souls by the Fulani headsmen in some parts of southern Taraba, the acting governor, Alhaji Garba Umar yesterday directed the immediate imposition of a 24-hour curfew in Ibi local government area of the state.

 

Alhaji Garba Umar who gave the directive through a press statement signed by  his senior special assistant on media and publicity, Mr Aaron Atimas, said the curfew would remain till further notice.

 

The statement directed all the security agencies within the area to maintain 24 hours surveillance.

 

The statement further advised citizens to restrain their movement until further notice.

 

The statement also said that the acting governor has directed that from tomorrow, senior public servants from the southern part of the state should go home to assist in ameliorating the security challenges in their respective area.

 

It could be recalled that the leaders of Tiv, Fulani, Jukun and Hausa communities in Taraba State yesterday signed a peace agreement on behalf of their people to end violence and foster development.
