IMO STATE GOVERNMENT HOUSE
PRESS RELEASE
The Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, OON, has reacted to the explosion that reportedly killed 71 people at Nyanya Abuja, saying, enough of this senseless killing of innocent Nigerians.
The Imo State Governor said, with the rate innocent Nigerians were being slaughtered in recent time, more Nigerians could be killed at a period the country is believed to be at peace than people were killed during the civil war, if the situation is not brought under control.
The Governor remarked that, the time has come for a National summit on the security of the Nation to be held, as a way of finding a lasting solution to these rampant innocent Nigerians.
He advised security agencies in the country to go back to the drawing board, with the aim of taking steps that would ensure that these unwarranted killings of innocent Nigerians do not continue, adding that the situation is becoming embarrassing.
He expressed his heartfelt sympathy for the families of those who lost their lives in the explosion, and prayed that God would give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable losses and grant those injured in the incident quick recovery.
