Policemen from the Abayi Division, Aba, Abia state have foiled an attempt to abduct a businessman by a gang of kidnappers operating within Umungasi community of the city.
247ureports.com gathered that the kidnappers blocked the man’s vehicle as he was returning home from work.
In a bid to bundle the man into their waiting vehicle, the kidnappers inflicted several machete cuts on him when some residents of the area put a call across to a police patrol team from the Abayi Police Division.
On sighting the police team, the kidnappers escaped with the man’s car leaving him in a pool of blood.
The man whose names are being withheld by us was later rushed to a nearby hospital in the city for medical attention by the policemen.
Attempts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer of the Abia state Command, Geoffrey Ogbonna proved abortive as his mobile line was switched off as at the press time. However, a police source at the Division who asked not to be named confirmed the incident and assured that the police are battle ready to rescue anybody in distress.
