The Chief Medical Director of Asokoro General
Hospital, Dr Abubakar Ahmadu has disclosed that
there are yet two unidentified corpses deposited at
the hospital mortuary in the wake of the Nyanya
bomb blast.
Ahmadu said 12 corpse were identified and six had
already been claimed by the deceased’s relations.
“None among the 26 victims brought alive to the
hospital has died. Also, a total of 12 corpses have
been identified by the deceased’s relations but only
six have been collected so far. There are two of
them (corpses) that are ‘query-query’- difficult to
identify,” Ahmadu stated.
Giving a breakdown of the 26 survivors of the
incident, he stated that of the 26, six were operated
upon and were recuperating, one was transferred to
a private hospital, another, a baby was reunited
with the family and three who sustained minor
injuries were treated and requested to be
discharged while additional five were discharged
this week.
“So, total of patients on admission as at today is 15
and all of them are responding to treatment,” he
added.
Ahmadu explained that most of those yet to be
discharged were those that underwent surgery,
adding that, “their healing processes might take up
to two weeks. We would have discharged all those
that suffere fractures but we want to ensure that
they respond to treatment. We are expecting that
they might be with us for another 10 days or there
about but at least a minimum of two weeks.”
Meanwhile, some victims of the Bomb attack
undergoing treatment at the hospital have
commended the medical team for their
professionalism and quick response to their needs.
One of them, Rakiyah Sulaiman, said, “the FCT
administration is doing very well especially the
doctors and nurses here. They are really taking care
of us. Anything we request for, we get it
immediately. God will bless them.
“If by the grace of God I can walk again, I will
come back and appreciate them. I have been here
since Monday, the day of the blast.”
