An Aba based legal practitioner, Kenneth Nwakanma has been freed by his abductors, a day after being kidnapped by unknown gunmen in the city.
247ureports.com gathered that Nwakanma was abducted by the kidnappers in front of his house at Immaculate Avenue by Egbelu Street, Aba on Tuesday night at about 8:15pm on his way back from a court sitting at Owerri, Imo State.

Eyewitnesses told our correspondent gathered that as Nwakanma was about to drive into his compound, the gunmen blocked him and used a scarf to cover his face before speeding off widely with him in his Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).
Chairman, Nigeria Bar Association(NBA),Aba branch Barr Chidozie Ogunji described the lawyer’s abduction as unfortunate and called on the security agencies in the state to be alive to their responsibilities.
“We thought that kidnapping is a thing of the past in Aba and the state. Security agents should step up efforts to keep the town safe. We don’t want to believe that Aba has gone back to where it was in the past,” Ogunji lamented.
Contacted on phone, Abia State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Ibrahim who confirmed that Nwakanma has been freed, called on residents of the state to volunteer useful information about criminals to the police, assuring that such would be treated in strict confidence.
