Fulani herdsmen Assures Governor Al-Makura of Cease Fire In Nasarawa state

Nasarawa state Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has reiterated his determination to combat the unabated ethnic and communal conflict that plunged the state into chaos by adopting a Community Based Conflict Approach as a mechanism to quell the upheaval in the state.

Governor Al-Makura disclosed this at the Government House when elders of Fulani communities in Nasarawa state paid him a courtesy call as a continuation to the ongoing peace meeting.
The Governor said the adoption of the Community Based Conflict Approach is to keep people on toes so as to end the crisis that bedeviled development.
The Governor reiterated that the approach will go a long way to nip the ongoing uprising between Fulani nomads and Tiv Farmers by the bud.
He opined that the peace meeting which is imperative to the state will be extended to other warring communities in the state.
Appealing to people of the state to avoid grapevine and speculations, saying rumor and speculations raised tension and instill fear amongst communities.
The Governor said the present administration is committed towards the introduction of grazing reserves and ranches for pastoral nomads, saying the approach may end the chaos headlong.
“Is raining season and if Tiv farmers and among other tribes did not go to farm the state will definitely experience famine”.
In a communique issued at the end of the close door meeting between the Governor and Fulani herdsmen, The Fulani’s agreed  to cease fire for the interest of the state.
The secretary of Miyyetti Allah Cattle Hurre said that Fulani’s has agreed that all Tiv farmers should go back to their abode.
The state Governor while shedding more light on the treaty between the two warring communities said arrangement is at top gear for the displaced persons to return to a temporary settlement before relocating them to their permanent abode.
It was expected that Tiv people and Fulani’s especially those that were displaced will be re-united with their love ones.

  1. Who are these Fulani herdsmen that rears cattle with AK47? I have never seen more than 4 heard men overlooking a flock of cattle at the same time. The media should stop deceiving or misleading the public. These men are terrorists and a wing of Boko Haram.
