The ongoing congress of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Imo State has torn the party into shreds with the acting state chairman of the party, Prince Marshal Okaforanyanwu and the member representing Owerri Federal Constituency in the House of Represenentatives, Hon. Ezenwa Onyewuchi said to have concluded plans to rejoin the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
This is coming less than one week after the governor’s close ally and frontline senatorial aspirant in Orlu Senatorial district, Chief Felix Idiga (alias Jafac) and other heavy weights of the party dumped him for the PDP.
According to reliable sources close to the federal lawmaker, Onyewuchi, who was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in 2011, and who was among the lawmakers that followed Okorocha to the APC, would officially declare his declare his membership of the PDP tomorrow, Thursday.
When 247ureports.com visited Onyewuchi’s constituency office opposite Iwuanyanwu’s glass house in Owerri, the lawmaker’s billboard bearing APC logo was removed and was yet to be replaced while the almanac bearing the APC logo was carefully cleaned to remove the logo.
Also, some of his local government coordinators were seen carrying the PDP uniform which it was said would be used to launch his return to the party.
247ureports.com learnt that the planned defection of Onyewuchi to the PDP came after the APC ward congress, where a strange harmonization pattern was used by Okorocha to shove him aside in the scheme to control the party structures in his Federal Constituency, especially in his own Owerri North LGA, where the party machinery was tilted in favour of the governor’s brother-in-law and current Transition Committee chairman of the council, Mr. Chucks Ololo.
He was also said to be unhappy with Okorocha’s style of leadership, which had rather made him a political orphan in a party he was supposed to be a happy major stakeholder.
In a similar development, the state chairman of the APC, Okaforanyanwu, is said to have concluded arrangement to dump Okorocha and the party following the ill treatment he suffered in the hands of the governor.
He was said to have been replaced without being notified by the governor ahead of the party’s congress which was supposed to take place last week Saturday but was shifted till yesterday, Tuesday.
Since the news of his removal was broken to him before a general meeting in government house, Okaforanyanwu was said to have vowed to fight back to spite the governor and this it was learnt he would do by joining forces with the PDP to remove him in 2015.
He was said to have stormed out of the meeting in government house last week Thursday and had never attended any meeting called by the governor since then.
Efforts made to get the reaction of Okaforanyanwu proved abortive as he did not answer his calls nor respond to the messages sent to his phone line.
