Save for the quick intervention of security operatives from the Ogun State Comand, a three storey building belonging to a retired senior police officer would have been completely razed by rampaging youths on the allegations that the building harbour underground cell which supplies fresh human blood and parts to people for rituals.
The heavy presence of security operatives which included those of the State Security Service (SSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Special Anti – Robbery Squad (SARS) as well as the conventional policemen from Eleweran Command headquarters however, did not deter the mob who stormed the area in their hundreds from vandalizing the building located in Ijaiye area of Abeokuta, the state capital.
The rumour about the alleged underground cell was all over the town and that this irk the youths from Abeokuta metropolis, to storm the place vowing not leave the compound until all the rooms in the building were searched.
Two ladies, tenants caught in the compound during the incident scampered to safety on sighting the surging crowd that besieged the compound. When tension got to its height by noon, the Balogun of Ijaiye and Aare of Egbaland, Alhaji Ganiyu Babayedun Alimo, was called in to douse the tension.
