Leading governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia state, Barr. Friday Nwosu says with last Sunday’s election of Gov. Theodore Orji as the Chairman, Forum of South East Governors, the South East zone has been sealed and delivered to the PDP.
In an interview with newsmen in Aba, Nwosu said the election is yet another commendation of the numerous achievements of the governor and the stabilizing role he is playing in the zone.
“Abians are grateful to the governors and other stakeholders of the zone for the recognition accorded our first citizen. I rejoice with Gov. Orji for this historic election. It is a confirmation of the fatherly role he is playing in the zone as well as his legacy achievements in Abia state.
“Just like his alias ‘ Ochendo Global’, Gov. Orji is an international figure; he has been receiving commendations from several quarters for his giant strides. I predict that most residents of the state would only appreciate his achievements when he has left the office. He is a silent achiever.”
He posited that the election could not have come at a time as the South East Governors’ Forum needed a grassroot operator like Gov. Orji to tighten PDP’s hold on the zone as the 2015 elections draw closer.
Nwosu who commended the other governors for the peaceful election and enjoined them to rally round their new chairman as s well as President Goodluck Jonathan to protect the interest of the zone in the politics of the nation, added that Gov. Orji’s election has shamed his detractors who are afraid of the rising profile of the governor.
