NSCDC arrests notorious handbag snatcher, vandals in Enugu

Operatives of the Nigeria Security Civil Defense Corp, NSCDC, Enugu command has apprehended a notorious handbag snatcher along the Uwani-Agbani road axis of Enugu metropolis.

His arrest was sequel to a complaint by a victim who was dispossessed of fifty thousand naira and other valuables.

Commandant of NSCDC,Enugu command, Mr. Nathaniel Ubong, while parading the suspect before newsmen in the command’s headquarters recently assured that the command will not rest on its oars until crime is reduced to the barest minimum in the state.

He revealed that the Handbag Snatcher specializes in using a commuter bus with the inscription of Enugu State Transport Company,ENTRACO, to hoodwink unsuspecting victims especially females.

His narration reads thus:”We      arrested this suspect following a complaint from a woman he robbed of fifty thousand naira and other personal valuables on February 18. He uses he bus to convey unsuspecting victims from the motor-park to crime prone areas. In this particular incident, he pulled out his wheel spanner and hit the woman with it.

“The woman lost consciousness and he robbed her immediately. He had meted such treatment to an NYSC member and has confessed to the crime”.

Similarly, Commandant Ubong, also paraded two vandals who have sabotaged efforts of government to provide electricity at Igbo-Etiti local government of Enugu State.

He said the vandals have been carting away electric cables,poles, battery installations in the area which they sold to an undisclosed buyer.

The Commandant maintained that their arrest was as a result of the cordial collaboration between his command and the vigilante in the area.

He quickly hinted that the suspects will be prosecuted once the command is through with its investigation.
