Late Biafran leader, Ojukwu, Onyishi to be honoured at UNN 43rd convocation

Late Biafran leader, Chief Chukwuemeka Ojukwu is to receive a posthumous honorary doctorate degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

Ojukwu would receive Doctor of Law (Hon. LLD).

Also to be honoured include Africa’s richest woman, Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija (Doctor of Business Administration), Chief Executive of Peace Mass Transport, Samuel Maduka Onyishi (Doctor of Business Administration) and Chief Executive of Innoson Group of companies, Innocent Chukwuma (Doctor of Business Administration).

Disclosing this yesterday at a pre-convocation press conference, the vice chancellor, UNN, Prof. Bartho Okolo said the award would take place during the 43rd convocation of the university on Saturday.

Okolo also disclosed that the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto diocese, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah would on Thursday deliver the 43rd Convocation Lecture on the topic “After the Insurgency: Some Thoughts on National Cohesion”.

The vice chancellor announced that a total of 7, 989 degrees and diplomas of the university.

Of the number, 5, 121 are for first degrees and diplomas while 2,868 are for higher degrees.

Forty four graduands are in the 1st class classification, 1,364 in 2nd class upper, 2,465 in 2nd class lower while 57 are in the pass classification.

Doctorate degrees are 338, Masters Degrees 2,015 while Post graduate diploma are 515.
