Igbo leader, Enemuo, Okeke Commends Jonathan on 2nd Niger bridge ground breaking

The Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government, Mrs. Azuka Enemuo has commended the President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan for performing the ground breaking ceremony of the Second Bridge across the Niger.

Enemuo said that President Jonathan had through the project brought joy to the minds of several Nigerians who had been expecting another bridge to ease the load on the existing bridge.

The LG Commissioner said that President Jonathan had by the groundbreaking ceremony demonstrated once again his determination to always respond to the needs of Nigerians.

The Igbo spiritual leader and Ogilishi Igbo, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka told newsmen that by the ground breaking, President Jonathan had given hope to ease the traffic jam which constitute nuisance to the people of South- east who pass the bridge on daily basis.

Chief Ezeonwuka said that new bridge when completed would boost both social and economic fortunes of the South-east and South- west areas of the country.

He expressed the hope that the project would not go moribund as was the case in the past, recalling that Chief Olusagun Obasanjo had earlier flagged off the bridge project and it did not take off.

Also speaking, the chairman of G.U. O Transport, Chief G.U Okeke expressed delight that the cry of the people to ease their plight and save them from the ugly experiences at the Bridge was being addressed.

He recalled that some lives and several man hour had been lost by people on the bridge, due to delays and scourging sun and commended the President for responding positively to that need.

Expressing his gratitude over the  groundbreaking. Hon Afam Ogene representing Ogbaru Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives said  that the bridge was one of the major requests of his constituency and thanked President Jonathan for living up to his words.

He also expressed delight that the project was being handed by Julius Berger, which he described as one of the leading Construction Companies in the country.
