By Rabiu Doma, Nasarawa
The defection of the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa state, Dameshi Luka into the umbrella fold of the People’s Democratic Party has brought a closure to the crisis that has rocked the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Dameshi Luka said he decamped to the PDP to find solace – that his defection will bring an end to the suspense and threat by Governor Al-Makura.
“I am addressing you today to alleviate the public of the heavy burden of speculation, anxiety and misinformation that has been bequeathed on them as a result of the events of the last few days and particularly my purported suspension”.
“The dark clouds that loom over our state thickened from October when president Goodluck Jonathan invited Christian Governors and Deputies to accompany him to Israel on Holy pilgrimage but the Governor misinterpreted this spiritual obligation as a plan to unseat him’’.
“How Governor Al-Makura, someone I took as a counselor could go down low consciously stage-managing lies and disseminating outright fairytale to malign my integrity before the publics, is surprising”.
Dameshi Luka described his suspension from the APC as illegal because “I don’t know the sins I committed, I could recalled I was in a church service recently in Goshen, Nasarawa state together with the president and I made a statement that it was wrong for the leadership of the APC at the national Assembly to block 2014 budget”.
“I want to reiterate that as a patriotic citizen of this country still firmly stand on that statement and insist that national interest must supersede party or any other interest”.
He stated that his suspension did not follow the conventional procedures. He in addition accused the interim committee of the APC that the party was involved in fraudulent act by forging signatures of other people.
“I have been accused of disloyalty to the Governor since the appointment of the Interim committee chairman of the party, Stanley Buba,” The appointment of Stanley Buba as the Interim committee chairman was not wrongly done because is not a member of the legacy party.
In view of the foregoing and after wide consultation, I have decided as follows
- That I will no longer pursue this culture of political uncertainty, disrespect for rules, hatred, outright lies and falsehood, voodoo and abracadabra, politics of exclusion, shadow chasing,ad-hocism and haphazardness in my political journey .
2.The present state of affairs ,a sad legacy with its conspicuous rock hard structures of falsehood and deceit will only aggravate the dearth of morality and lead to more confusion in the state.
3. Consequently I and my teeming supporters across the state have decided to decamp to the PDP with immediate effect
The state chairman of the party Yunana Iliya expressed optimism over the defection of the number two man in Nassarawa to the opposition party. He stated that the PDP will reclaim her stolen mandate from the APC come 2015 election.
The chairman also announced the formal defection of a senate of the federal republic of Nigeria, Senator.Solomon Ewuga ,incumbent senator representing Nasarawa North at the national Assembly.
Other bigwigs of the APC that jump ship are the serving member House of representive representing Lafia-obi Federal constituency,Dr.Haruna Kigbu and David Embugadu ,member representing Nasarawa Eggon,Wamba ,Akwanga also decamp to the PDP.
Calling on members of the PDP to remain committed and law abiding citizens at all times,Other people that defected to the PDP is a Governorship aspirant under the platform of the Labor Party,Nawani Aboki.
