A meeting of the five South-East governors ended in a deadlock as the chief executives zoomed off without a word to newsmen after a protracted deliberation.
The governors who met under the aegis of South-East Governors Forum could not produce a successor to Governor Peter Obi, of Anambra State whose tenure as the Chairman of the Forum is barely two weeks to extinction.
Sources said the meeting ended in disarray as Governor of Abia State, Chief Theodore Orji, the preferred candidate to succeed Gov. Obi could not emerge as Chairman of the Forum at the end of the meeting.
However, only Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha did not attend the meeting while incoming Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Willie Obiano also attended the meeting.
Host, Sullivan Chime of Enugu State made a surprise appearance at the meeting as rumour-mill had been in over-drive following his absence from office owing to health challenges.
