Due to the level of insecurity in the country many participants from the many state of the federation failed to attend the national quranic recitation holding
in Jigawa state – unlike last two years were the venue was filled up by
thousands of participants from various state of the federation.
Many of the would-be participants reside and/or originate from the volatile areas of the country –
like Maiduguri, Yobe and Adamawa state. They were not able to participate at
the national quaranic recitation competition. Our reporter who visited the venue gathered that the security agents did not allow people to enter the venue as a result massive
security put in place due to the arrival of the vice president Namadi
Sambo.
In his speech the vice president Sambo charged Muslim youths to always embrace Islam and recitation of the holy book of Allah in order to acquire the quality and teaching of the holy prophet Alaihislam. Sambo expressed his gratitude and the way Muslim are
participating at the national and international quranic recitation
competition within and outside the country.
Also emir of Borno who represented the sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Umar
Garbai charged Muslim to recite the quran wherever they are and
advised Muslims to be united wherever in the world because “we are
brothers and sisters in Islam and we are under one umbrella that is
Islam”.
Governor Sule Lamido in his welcome address said Jigawa state
has established six tsangaya schools – copying the federal
government policy – adding that over 49 Arabic schools were establish
across the state and many students were sponsored to study quaranic
education in Sudan and Malaysia.
Also present was the Osun state Governor, Engr Rauf Aregbesola. He described Jigawa state governor Alhaji Sule Lamido as a progressive governor who is committed to the
betterment of his people. He said the way governor Lamido transformed Jigawa state through the
provision of infrastructures and facilities, policies and program is a
clear demonstration of progressive political ideology of late Malam
Aminu Kano. He stated this at the venue while reading his speech
at Aminu Kano Square in Dutse as part of his two day
official visit to Jigawa state for the national quaranic recitation
competition in the state.
Engr Aregbisola who is also chairman of the occasion at the opening
ceremony for National Quranic competition advised Governor Lamido to dump PDP
and join the new party APC which is gaining momentum
in the country.

“You are in party that has parallel ideology with you, your performance
has proved that you are different from them , so please comeback to
your right family that is APC” he insisted.
Governor Aregbisola also expressed his gratitude to governor Lamido and
his cabinet member for honoring him with the opportunity to perform
something to glorify God and honoring the Holy Qur’an.
Responding, Governor Alhaji Sule Lamido described the Osun state governor as a man
who captured all the values of Islam and also a symbol of unity among
Muslim ummah in Nigeria.
“I and my cabinet decided to invite you to chair this occasion due to
your simplicity and humility with your integrity which is a symbol of
good leadership in Islam“.
