Mr. Attah Chukwu , a soldier said to be serving with the Nigerian Army, Jaji, Kaduna State has been arrested by the Aba Area Police Command, Abia State for allegedly aiding the escape of a suspect as well as inciting traders to organize a mob action against the police.
247ureports.com gathered that Chukwu, who is related to a spare parts dealer at Jubilee road suspected by the police to be dealing on stolen goods, assaulted two police officers from an undisclosed police division in Aba investigating the allegation.
Sources hinted that after the assault on him by the soldier and traders, the policemen reported the matter to the Aba Area Command who mobilized their men to the area.
Our correspondent also gathered that when the police got to the place, they demanded that the suspect to follow them to the station , but the soldier resisted the move leading to the traders booing the police and attacking the patrol van.
The suspect whose name could not be ascertained as at press time, escaped from the police as they engaged the soldier. The police team later reinforced and arrested the soldier before handing him over to the army authorities in the state.
