A man, aged 40, has been detained at the Eziama Police Station, Aba, Abia State for allegedly attempting to rape a minor.
The incident, 247ureports.com gathered, took place around 10pm Thursday evening in front of a popular transport company along Aba – Ikot Ekpene road, Aba.
Police sources told our correspondent that the suspect whose name could not be gotten as at the time of filing this report would have succeeded in raping the little girl but for members of the public who apprehended and handed him over to the Eziama Police station.
Contacted, Abia Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Geoffrey Ogbonna, an Assistant Superintendent Police, said he was yet to be briefed on the incident, but a senior police officer who pleaded anonymity confirmed the incident, adding that they were already investigating the matter
