Ex -Chief Press Secretary to the Abia state governor, Ugochukwu Emezue says former Gov., Chief Orji Uzor Kalu should cover his face in shame instead of attacking his successor who is only cleaning the mess he left behind during his eight years tenure in the state.
Emezue who was reacting to the recent attack on Gov. Theodore Orji by Kalu berated the latter for what he described as his mismanagement of the state in his eight years administration.
“Chief Orji Uzor Kalu should cover his head in shame. During his reign, Abia state wandered like a lost sheep without direction. What can he boast of in his eight years governance of Abia state? Nothing than converting the state to his family business where allegiance to his brothers and mother, Eunice and Kalu determined who got what. Kalu was governor for eight years and Abia state had no government house, workers secretariat, international conference centre and other basic infrastructure and yet he opens his mouth to criticize his successor whose legacy projects have changed the face of Abia. If he had built all these basic structures, Gov. Orji would not have toiled the way he has done to lay the foundation which Kalu should have done. Kalu only saw Abia as an extension of his Slok Company and did everything to loot the state dry with his family. Kalu does not have the moral right to attack Gov. Orji.”
The former Chief spokesman insisted that the Abia state only witnessed serious governance during the present Gov. Theodore Orji administration who united all the stakeholders instead of fighting them as done by Kalu. According to him, the state has benefited from the wisdom of the governor as the stakeholders now act and speak with one accord.
“Gov.Orji brought peace to Abia state through involving stakeholders in governance. Have you asked yourself why Orji Uzor Kalu fought with every stakeholder in the state; Ojo Maduekwe, Onyema Ugochukwu, Enyinnaya Abaribe, Adolf Wabara and others? He is Mr. Know all and was always abusing the then president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and the state suffered for it because he was supposed to partner with the president to develop Abia but he chose not. This is why Gov. Orji has continued to say that once in every generation, God brings out somebody who comes to lay a solid foundation. Kalu messed up Abia to the extent that he created division and confusion among the people of the state. At a time during his reign, the Ukwa/ Ngwa people barred him from their land. So, if you compare this with the wide acceptance Gov. Orji receives across the length and breadth of Abia state, then you will appreciate it that Abia suffered in the hands of Kalu. The issue is that he has no shame.”
