Gunmen Kidnap Chinese, Ex-Abia Deputy Governor’s Aide In Aba

A Chinese national married to a Nigerian, simply identified as Mrs. Tang and an aide to the former Abia Deputy Governor, Chief Acho Nwakanma, one Achilefu were on Sunday, abducted by unknown gunmen at different locations in Aba, Abia State.

247ureports.com gathered that while Tang and her husband, Christian Kalu, a native of Amaekpu Item in Bende council area were returning to their house around 9:30pm, Sunday night, a Toyota Highlander SUV with registration number KTU 548 AU ash in colour cordoned them off at 7up junction by Umuelede road and ordered out of the car.

Achilefu, said to be the farm manager to ex- Abia Deputy Governor, Acho Nwakanma was seized by the gunmen on Sunday evening around 8:30pm at Umudukwu Village along Aba—–Ikot Ekpene highway..

Though information about the two incidents are still sketchy as at the time of filling this report, our correspondent gathered that the kidnappers were yet to make contacts with the families even as the incidents had been reported at the Eastern Ngwa Division Police Station and Ohuru Isimiri Police station, respectively.

In a related development, a man in his early 40s, identified as Ifeanyi has been admitted at an undisclosed hospital where he was being treated of a gunshot injury he sustained after he resisted an attempt by kidnappers to whisk him away after blocking his vehicle.

Sources hinted that the incident happened at about 8:30pm Sunday evening along Kamalu Street by Star Paper Mills Aba while he was driving back to his house at Abayi area of the commercial city.

Contacted on phone, Abia Police spokesman, ASP Geoffrey Ogbonna said he was not aware of the incidents, but two senior police officers who spoke on the condition of anonymity confirmed the development.
