Delta lawmaker, Essien presents stewardship, promises constituents better representation

The Member representing Isoko South One Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Benjamin Essien-Okiemute has presented his stewardship to his constituents with a promise to provide the people with more dividends of democracy.
Addressing a mammoth crowd of the people over the weekend who gathered at Irri Primary School, Irri, Isoko South local government area of Delta state to listen to the score card of the lawmaker, Hon. Essien-Okiemute said he is very passionate about the education, security of lives and properties as well as improving the standard of living of the people and overall socio-economic development of Isoko nation and the state in general.
The gathering to brief the constituents of his stewardship and to know their problems and aspirations by the lawmaker was the third in two and half years as a member of the state legislature.
Hon Essien-Okiemute said he has ensured that the voice of the people were heard on the floor of the House, naming sponsorship of two bills and contributing to debates on several other bills and motions to his credit.
Hon. Essien-Okiemute who is the Chairman, House committee on Peace and Security stated that all his 2012 and 2013 constituency projects including school infrastructures at Ivrogbo, Irri, Ada, Ivory, Ikpide-Irri and Emede have been completed.
He also named renovation of a dilapidated block of classrooms at Ivrogbo Grammar School; provision of portable drinking water at Urusewe in Oleh; complete overhaul of two water projects at Ivrogbo and Utue communities; electrification of Isoko Central School, Oleh; construction of two kilometres Emede Community main road and renovation of the dilapidated Utue Community Town Hall, to his credit.
Others according to Hon. Essien-Okiemute, include appointment of two aides from each ward within Isoko South One Constituency; provision of fifty four cars and four hundred and ninety two motorcycles to constituents; facilitation of employment  for his constituents into state and federal civil service; recruitment of twenty six youths into the armed forces and police; floating of Micro Credit Scheme; provision of starter packs to nine hundred and one constituents to boost their saloon and sewing trades as well as provision of farming implements to two thousand farmers in the locality.
The lawmaker stated that several indigent students from the constituency are presently enjoying his University scholarship, including one Edeno Akpoghene who was incaserated in prison for twelve years for offence he did not commit and now a law student at the University of Benin.
Hon. Essien-Okiemute assured that he will not lose focus in his determination for all round development in Isoko South One Constituency, urging the people to remain resolute in their support for good governance and quality representation.
He thanked the State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Victor Ochei and others for their support.
Some of the constituents who spoke paid glowing tribute to Hon. Essien-Okiemute for his grassroot development that earned him the acronym “The People’s Honourable”.
They drew attention to areas of needs and challenges and charged him to use his good office to address them, even as they pledged their total support.
The briefing which lasted for over five hours was attended by cross session of people of Isoko South One Constituency, including community and political leaders.
