The press secretary to the deputy majority leader of House of Representatives and member representing Isoko federal constituency, Hon. Leo Ogor Okuweh, Mr. Mike Akpodhoma alias (MIKOKO) was over the weekend shot by unknown gunmen at the Anwai campus gate of the Delta state University, Asaba.
It was reliably gathered that after shooting Mr. Akpodhoma at the neck at close range, the hoodlums carted away his brand new official golden colour Toyota corolla car with Registration Number, APP 712 CC, his Ipad, laptop, documents, undisclosed amount of cash and yet to be estimated valuables.
According to an impeccable family source, Mr. Akpodhoma had gone to town in Asaba, Delta state capital, to fetch one or two things and was returning home when the incident occurred at about 9pm.
“Mikoko, as he is popularly called by friends and fans, went to town to pick up one or two things and on his way returning home he was accosted by a female and male at gun point and was forcefully asked to drive straight towards the Anwai campus gate of the Delta state University, Asaba. On getting to a nearby lonely bush, he was forced out of the car and shot at the neck at close range before his car and other valuables were carted away to an unknown destination.”
Our reporter reliably learnt that, shortly after the victim was shot, he fell down and was soaked in his own pool of blood and managed to put call across to one of his relation, Hon. Evans Egbo, former Isoko South legislative leader, who now put calls across to Sir Itiako Constantine Ikpokpo Malik, an Isoko philanthropist and reputable transporter who now rushed the victim to the anwai campus hospital and thereafter transferred to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), for intensive care and treatment.
Speaking with our reporter at his hospital bed at FMC, the press secretary to the deputy majority leader of House of Representatives, Mr. Mike Akpodhoma who is responding to treatment said his life was spared by God and for God to have saved his life alone, he give all the glory to God almighty.
While narrating his ordeal to our reporter in the hands of the hoodlums, Mr. Akpodhoma, disclosed on getting to the Anwai campus gate of the Delta state University, Asaba, after forcing him from his car, the female armed robber opened his car boot and saw laptop and newspapers and the female robber suspected him to be a Journalist.
“Immediately, she told me so you are a Journalist, it’s you people that carries all manners of stories here and there. You will die now and let me see how you are going to write this story and before I could say Jack Robinson, she has shot me at the neck at close range and I fell down and they zoomed off with my car and other vital valuables.”
While thanking his boss, the deputy majority leader of House of Representatives and member representing Isoko federal constituency, Hon. Leo Ogor Okuweh, Hon.
