2 robbery suspects held in Enugu

IFEANYI EZUGWU,ENUGU.
Two notorious armed robbery kingpins who has left trails of anguish to residents of Ogui and its environs in Enugu metropolis have met their waterloo.

Their apprehension was effected by the eagle-eyed operatives of Ogui division of the Nigeria Police Force, Enugu State command.

A distress call from a member of the public triggered a ‘stop and search’ operation from the operatives of the division.

The hoodlums were nabbed behind Winners Chapel, Independence Layout on the 18th February at about 6.15 pm after a fierce gun duel between the robbers and security operatives.

However, the miscreants fell to the superior fire power of the trained security operatives just as one of the robbers sustains a gun shot injury on the right ankle.

The suspected robbers  who gave their names as Chukwuemeka Ani of Azimbo, in Ebonyi state,Ifebuche Okafor who claimed he is a Civil Engineering student of Institute of Management and Technology,IMT,Enugu are now in Police custody while investigation into their nefarious activities is ongoing.

Recovered from the suspects are one double barrel locally made pistol,two single barrel locally made pistol and six live ammunitions of AK47 rifle.

The Police Public Relations Officer,PPRO, Enugu command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, assured members of the public that,”the Police will not rest on its oars until crime is reduced to its barest minimum in the society”.
