The Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha said the Obowo modern market will soon be commissioned with all the necessary facilities in place.
Governor Okorocha disclosed this while interacting with traders at the market during his inspection tour of the market.
The Governor pointed out that the market was built as part of government’s efforts to provide succour to Imo traders displaced at Umuahia as well as open up Obowo for development into a commercial city.
He assured the traders that access roads and other facilities such as parking lots, toilets, water, street lights and security will be provided to bring the market to an international standard and appealed to them to make good use of the facilities.
The Governor further reminded the traders of the need to keep a clean and healthy environment and warned them against dumping refuse into the Imo River to avoid pollution of the water.
The Rescue Mission Governor reaffirmed his determination to continue to restore smiles and hope to numerous Imo people and urged the traders to support government programmes as well as embrace the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the change that would give ndi-igbo the most desired recognition in the country.
He commended the efforts made by the Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajimogu; the Commissioner for Works, Ichie Best Mbanaso; the Commissioner for Finance, Deacon Chike Okafor and the traditional rulers in the area in ensuring that the project came to reality.
