Forgery: Enugu Police smashes fake vehicle emblem syndicate



A notorious syndicate that specializes in issuing unauthorized and fake vehicle emblems has met their waterloo in Enugu.

Their apprehension was effected by the operatives of the X Squad section,criminal investigation department,Enugu State Police command.

The ringleader of the gang who gave his name as Julian Nduka was nabbed for allegedly selling to unsuspecting members of the public, documents suspected to be fake vehicle emblems amounting to Millions of Naira allegedly acquired from Onitsha in Anambra state covering some states apart from Enugu.

He was apprehended on 7th January at Uwani axis of the state as he was selling the emblem to an unsuspecting member of the public.

Suspect never got wind of the monitoring eyes of operatives until the net dropped on him.

His arrest was sequel to a written complaint from the State Board of Internal Revenue that some people are hiding under the guise of revenue staff to defraud innocent citizens of the state to the detriment of the State Board.

Suspect however claimed that he is working with the Enugu-South local government council board of internal revenue but admitted that he is selling emblems from other states of the country other than that of the Enugu State.

He also admitted that he used to print the emblem from a friends shop at Awada, Onitsha, Anambra State and further revealed that he uses the proceeds for personal gains.

The Police Public Relations Officer,PPRO, of the command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu who confirmed the incident in a release made available to newsmen yesterday, assured, “members of the public that investigation into the case have commenced in full scale. Once we conclude our investigation, the suspect will be prosecuted according to extant laws”.
