The Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Charles Ajuyah, SAN, has reiterated the Delta State Government avowed commitment in blocking all revenue leakages accruable to the State, warning ‘consultants’ and individuals not commissioned by the State to stop filing claims on behalf of the Delta State Government.
Mr. Charles Ajuyah, SAN, who was addressing Lawyers of the Ministry assigned to Revenue Courts across the State and Legal Officers posted to Ministries, Departments and Agencies, in his office on Thursday, disclosed that the State Government resolve to increase its revenue base beyond oil was fully on course.
He charged the legal officers to be good ambassadors of the Ministry and reminded those assigned to Revenue courts to effectively take over and prosecute with diligence all revenue based cases filed in the Revenue court. He stated that the Government will not accept co operate with any revenue debtor who would seek unnecessary or long adjournment of cases in the court. This is because justice delayed is justice denied.
The Attorney-General used the opportunity to warn that no revenue Consultant should commence legal action in the name of the Delta State Government for the purpose of claiming money from members of the public and companies and that is not their mandate, he , added that legal officers were deployed to the Board of internal revenue to take on the responsibilities of commencing action and prosecuting claims for revenue due to the State Government, its Ministries, Agencies and Departments.
