*as Abuja High court fixes judgment for tomorrow
Baring any last minute changes, the prolonged leadership crisis between the Chief Victor Umeh cum Alh Sani Shinkafi-led executive and the Chief Maxi Okwu-led executive would be settled finally tomorrow when the Abuja Highcourt presided over by Justice Abdul Kafarati delivers its judgement on the matter.
The Okwu-led executive had dragged Chief Umeh, Alh Shinkafi and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to court in the suit No FHC/ABJ/CS/563/2013 seeking their removal as the party’s national chairman and secretary respectively.
Okwu and his group had maintained that the tenure of Umeh, Shinkafi and co “had constitutionally expired long time ago.
Earlier, the court had reserved its judgement till Feb 7,2014, but later adjusted the date forward to tomorrow.
Umeh told the Guardian that those behind the suit were merely flying a kite, pointing out that the court has no jurisdiction to entertain the matter. Moer so that whatever judgement the Okwu group gets would not last the distance before he sets it aside.
He said he was not worried about it in any way at all. Maxi Okwu has also confirmed that the judgement was being expected and that whatever the outcome that he wants the best for the party. That his drive was to take APGA beyond Anambra and Imo states, adding that he want to make it a truly national party with national spread, other than what it is presently.
All these were coming on the heels of the celebration dance of the party after its landslide victory in the Saturday, Jan 11,2014 council ‘election’ in the state, where APGA won 20 out of the 21 councils in the state, amidst widespread outcry of no election across the state.
