The All Progressives Grand Alliance congratulates the people of Anambra State, the light of the nation who once again, and for the third time in a row bestowed on APGA their mandate to administer the State.
We commend the Anambra State electorate for massively thumb printing the Cock symbol the APGA logo. This symbol first entered the nation’s political space in 1944 as the symbol of the NCNC. Until his forced retirement from politics in 1960 the party was led by no other than Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe pioneer nationalist aka Zik of Africa and Owelle Onicha Ado na Idu. APGA, indeed Ndigbo are grateful that Anambra State electorate did not disgrace Owelle on 16th November 2013, his 109th birthday anniversary.
APGA also congratulates Governor Peter Obi, Okwute Igbo nine na ebe nine, who has earned himself copious mention in the annals of Nigerian political history, not only by his star performance but also by midwifing an APGA successor. It is indeed a vote of appreciation by the people of Anambra, who he rescued from the jaws of anarchy and mayhem unleashed by the previous PDP administration. Governor Obi’s novel policy–Anambra Integrated Development Strategy (ANIDS) which attacked all sectors simultaneously, is in line with APGA manifesto.
Having secured the clear mandate of the people to administer Anambra State for the next four years, we shall now face the next task before APGA as a political party. This includes re-branding of APGA and restoring it as a popular movement of the people of Nigeria particularly Ndigbo. This resuscitation of the original vison, goals and aspirations of the founding fathers which include, Chief Chekwas Okorie – Oje ozi Ndigbo, the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu- Eze Igbo Gburugburu, the Igboezue Cultural Association, Chief Chris Okoye, Professor Ben Obumselu, Okwadike Igboukwu Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, the late Oyi of Oyi, Ikenga Omambala Rt. Hon. (Dr) Senator Chuba Okadigbo, the Igbo Delegate Assembly (IDA), then led by Dr. L.A. Chukwuma and numerous others. The struggle now commences with greater vigour.
