The Imo State Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha has charged communities in the state to embark on developmental project that would enhance the standard of living of the people.
Governor Okorocha stated this while commissioning the permanent site of the ultra modern children and community hospital Umuowa in Orlu Local government Area built by the people of the community in partnership with the Uzondu and kindermissionwerk based in Germany.
He noted that a gap existed between the church and politicians saying that this has caused confusions and misunderstanding in the society and called on the church and politicians to close ranks in order to ensure the development of the society.
He said that his administration attached high premium to the provision of efficient healthcare delivery services pointing out that this explained why his administration embarked on the construction of 27 new general hospitals and will ensure that they were equipped to cater for the health needs of the people.
Governor Okorocha commended the magnanimity of Rev. Fr. Sergius Duruoshimere Uzondu and kindermissionwert based in Germany and the people of Umuowa for embarking on this live saving project. He donated an ambulance to the hospital and promised to tare the access roads leading to the hospital
Rev. Fr.Sergius Duruoshimere, founder of St. Mary’s Children and Community Hospital (SMCCH), Umuowa, regreted that Nigerians in Diaspora loath home coming because of wrong political approaches in the country. He commended Governor Okorocha for having the interest of the masses at heart and charged him not to be distracted by opposition while the Rev. Fr. called on those in authority to borrow a leaf from the governor.
Highlight of the occasion included the celebration of high mass officiated by His Lordship Most Rev. Augustine Ukwuoma and five other bishops, many dignitaries were in attendance including the state commissioner for works Ichie best Mbanso.
