NULGE Gives Gov. Al-Makura 3 Days Ultimatum To Recall Sacked L.G Workers

The Nigeria Union of Local Government
Employees has given Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura three days ultimatum to replace
sacked workers of the third tier of Government disengaged by the incumbent
administration or risk industrial action.

Ibrahim Khalil, President of the union
gave the disclosure while inaugurating a seven member committee that will man
the union’s leadership for three months before the conduct of
credible election.

Nulge leadership gave the Governor
conditions to recall the severed workers for the interest of the state and the family
of the affected workers who are wallowing in anguish, hunger, agony, squalor
and deprivation.

He further attributed the hiccups of the Local Government
system to absence of Local Government Autonomy.
“Local Government system is just an
appendage of the state Government under the 36 states Governors who manipulate
the third tier of Government at will, He rated the executive organ of
Government as the corrupt arm of Government”.

“Even in the records of Independent Corrupt Practices
and other Related Offences and The Economic and Financial Crime Commission how
many council officials were the guest of the anti-graft agencies? Those invited guest are either Governors or national Assembly members”.

He lament over the appointment of
Transitional Management Committee Chairmen (TMC) at the third tier of
Government as unconstitutional, He identified the inauguration of TMC
committees as an avenue to wreak havoc to Local Government system.

“On our checkup dues the Governor said our money is in
safe hands “we thank God that the internal wrangling within the
union is over, hoping that the Governor will release our entitlement to us”,

Khalil in his address raised eyebrow over the known
payment of checkup dues by the state Government, Adding that the known payment
of the dues was due to the lingering crisis in the union, In his speech,
The president sue for peace and tranquility in the Nasarawa state wing of the union,
describing the estranged leaders of the union as fortress of peace.

Abdullahi Abubakar- The caretaker
chairman in his address call for unity among members of the union, Full of
enthusiasm assured the members of the union a level playing ground for as well
uniting all aggrieved parties.
