Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi says no blackmail can separate him from his beloved wife, Dame Judith Amaechi.
Amaechi spoke Tuesday night during a Night of Glory Praise and Worship Session held at the Alfred-Diette Spiff Civic Centre Complex, Moscow Road in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
He dispelled rumour peddled by mischief makers that he had separated from his wife, rather thanked her for choosing him as a loving husband. The Governor commended his wife for keeping faith with the yearly night of glory concert.
According to him “I thank God for his moment and also thank you for gathering here. I also thank my dear wife for his kindness and love towards me. She had told me that, she was waiting for my last son to come on vacation with her from overseas, and she will soon come back to Nigeria. I thank my wife because in all my endeavours, she is the only one that brings me joy. This is so because, if I have any problem and tell her, she prays with me and even ask me to put my hand on my head, and she will call upon God to intervene in that matter. So, I thank her in absentia. I told you how she used to impress me, because she is a wonderful wife when it comes to loving her husband and she cares about me. I have told my children that, my wife comes first before them, I love my wife. I thank her and also wish her God blessings”, Amaechi said.
The State Chief Executive also recalled the travails and persecution he suffered with his wife all through his political life and gave the indication that God has assured his family that he will lead his government up till 2015 when his tenure will elapse.
“If you recall my political history, beginning from the time I was Speaker of the House till date, it has not been easy with us, we have always confronted God in prayers. History has it that, we are the only couple that became Governor without election and God has assured us that he will lead us up to 2015. I am neither a prophet nor a pastor, I am just a child of God and very soon, I will go back to God in prayers and surrender myself to God”, Amaechi explained.
Governor Amaechi further said, several revelations from men of God had revealed that nearly all his supporters would abandon him and the situation will be so bad that it will appear as if God has left him, but at the end he (Amaechi) will triumph over his opponents.
“I thank God that we are all here. There are so many actions that I have taken that I could not account for, and a man of God had told me that a period like this will come when nearly all my supporters will leave me behind, and it will be so tough that it will look as if God has deserted me, but at the end of the day, we shall triumph. It didn’t quite make sense to me as Governor, until when the battle started, it now occurred to me that a man of God had prophesised to me earlier”, Amaechi said.
He averred that his election as Governor of Rivers State was ordained by God, which he claimed was responsible for his sustenance till date.
“The reason why we are gathered here today is to thank God. We thank God for the fact that, we are still in office till date. And that is our agreement with God. It seems to be the voice speaking for the voiceless”, Amaechi noted.
