Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State recently indicated that the All
Progressive Congress APC has the capacity to send the ruling PDP out
of power in the 2015 election because the ruling party has misused its
opportunity.
Lamido spoke when Sule Yau Sule image maker of former Kano State
Governor Ibrahim Shekarau visited with other leaders of the Nigerian Institute
of Public Relations (NIPR) Kano/Jigawa chapter to his office on a
courtesy visit on Tuesday.
The Governor had openly declared in an earlier interview with a
national daily that the APC can not be an alternative to the ruling
party PDP.
However this time around he pointed out that if PDP is misbehaving,
APC is ready and capable of wresting power from it which he said will
be good for the country.
He said the PDP was formed to heal Nigeria from the distortion and
pain inflicted on it by the 19 years of military incursion in
politics.
According to him those years of lacuna have resulted in the present
leadership failures in both private and public institutions in the
country.
He accused the PDP of divisive tendencies which has divided the
country along ethnic and religious lines even as he took a swipe at
the mega opposition APC for being emotional.
‘Nigeria can not be governed by divisive means or emotions’
On the contrary he said the PDP has lived up to its original bidding
of healing the country of its wounds.
However he said the party in recent times has derailed and because he
spoke up against it he is being blackmailed and designated as a thief.
The Governor said the debate in the north has changed to that of hate
and distortion which portend serious danger ahead.
‘The north is known for values, respect, care and justice but because
of the lust for power all that has been eroded.’
He observed that in times of crises it is the common-man that bares
the brunt of it as most elites don’t die.
‘The elites are evil as we would not mind killing our own people for
our selfish interest, how long can we hold on.’
He blamed politicians for lack of principle which has led many to keep
jumping from one party to another.
This the Governor said has also affected Nigerian  democracy negatively
Lamido admonished his visitors to see what they can do to reorder the trend.
‘How do you restore the North to honor, respect, justice? If we
destroy ourselves who will lead us?’
The Governor pointed out that
in Jigawa his leadership is trying to restore confidence and trust in
the people to connect the missing link and bring about ownership.
Lamido said the youth have been at the receiving end having been
delinked hence he charged the NIPR to work harder to reorder the
situation.
