A criminal case before a Rimgim Chief Magistrate Court involving
Honourable Farouk Adamu Aliyu former member representing Buji and
birnin kudu federal constituency and serving senator, Senator Danladi
Sankara has been transferred to a Dutse Chief Magistrate Court on the
orders of the state Chief Judge.

The case which was earlier adjourned from November to 23rd of
December had directed for the immediate arrest of Senator Danladi
Sankara and two others for their refusal to appear before the court
despite being served with notice.

Earlier the counsel to the complainant Dr. Nasir Adamu argued that his
client had not been properly served with the order.

The counsel to the accused, Mr. Omereoye Morgan who countered the
complainant’s assertion – said the law under the state stated that when such cases
are being transferred all former proceedings would cease to have
effect on the subsequent court proceeding.

The Dutse chief Magistrate malam Mustapha Datti who in his statement
said the court is only sitting to record its receipt of the transfer
of the case earlier filed before a Ringim Chief Magistrate court to
his court and would commence hearing on the 28th of January, 2014.

When contacted for further clarification on the reasons
behind the transfer of the case from Ringim to Dutse magistrate court,
the chief Registrar of the jigawa state judiciary said the case was
transferred based on the premise of a written complaint by the
defendant that the trial court Judge is a blood relative of the
complainant.
