The Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu has donated a completed storey building for the smooth take-off of Imo State College of Education (Technical) being built by the present administration at Ihitte-Uboma Local Government Area.
Uwajumogu who was physically elated by the successful passage of the second reading of the bill for a law to further amend the Imo State College of Education (Technical) Law No: 11 of 2013 as amended announced the donation of the building to facilitate, early take off of the institution.
This is another giant stride from the rescue Government of Owelle Rochas Okorocha to the people of Okigwe Zone, who before now cried of marginalization in the area of locating higher institutions of learning.
Speaking on the bill, its sponsor, Barr Obinna Okwara, a performing legislator who represents Nkwerre State Constituency urged his colleagues to support the amendment of the bill that is in favour of the Speaker of the House, who has been passionate about balancing the equation on locating of higher institutions of learning in the State.
He disclosed that the College has been located at a virgin field instead of the Madonna Science Secondary School as previously approved.
The member for Oru-East, Barr Greg Okemili, supported the bill and called for it to be committed to the committee of the whole house for its passage since there was no dissenting voice.
Both the member for Ideato-South, Hon Chief Ikechukwu Amuka, and his Ehime counterpart, Hon Kingsley Dimaku, gave their support to the amendment of the bill. When the Speaker put the bill to vote, it sailed through its second reading.
