…says, we’re not informed

The planned presentation of 2014 Budget by the Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, was today cancelled by the Imo State House of Assembly.

Announcement has been rife on the state owned radio and television stations about the presentation of the 2014 budget by the governor on December 17, 2014.

The NTA and AIT outside broadcasting(OB) vans and crew were turned back by the security operatives at the gate of the temporary of the state assembly.

247ureports.com gathered that the cancellation was as a result of a demand for N10 million for each of the 26 members of the House, which the governor was said to have refused.

The House members were said to be accusing the governor of not ‘taking care of them’ and decided to cash in on the budgetary presentation to collect their own share of the state money.

According to one of the lawmakers, who spoke in confidence with journalists, the governor was in the habit of playing a fast one with every one, including the lawmakers, in order to have his way in every issue.

He added that since the governor had been give four-year rolling budget by the house, he may call the bluff of us and continue running the state without annual budget.

“But we’re not ready to let him deceive us this time. He must settle us before we recieve him to present his budget. If we don’t hold to ransom now, I know him, he will not listen to us next”, he said, adding “if we accept him to read his budget now, he will definitely blackmail us before Imolites that we refused to pass budget because of money. So this is the time to get money”.

Meanwhile, Friday December 20, 2013 has been fixed for the presentation of the budget by the governor.
