Imo State Government success at getting Banks in Imo State to suspend their
strike in solidarity to their members may have been achieved through the Deputy
Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, who had engaged with the banks in far away
United States.
From our impeccable source, it was revealed that Imo Deputy Governor, Prince
Eze Madumere, MFR, had been detailed by his boss to speak to the Bank Heads had
spoken to them on one-on-one basis and the leadership of the Umbrella body of
the banks in Imo State in phone conversations where the Bank Executives were
said to be happy and were positive in their response to re-open for business.
It is purported that Imo Deputy who spoke from Houston Texas, United States of
America, where he is receiving a medical attention, said the call was necessary
because Governor Okorocha’s feeling towards alleviate the suffering of the
masses while negotiation continues.
It was further revealed that Madumere appealed to the Banks as economic
institution and public trustee, for reasons of public interest, not to close
shop against the public while assuring them of the government readiness to sit
with them to clear other gray areas especially with the nine banks that are
sealed over some unresolved areas.
