Armed robbers numbering over ten in Aba, Abia State on Saturday invaded St. Eugene Catholic Church, Osusu where they carted away over N10million.

247ureports.com gathered that the money taken away by the armed robbers in two ‘Ghana must go bags’ were proceeds of the offerings raised at the just concluded crusade held in the parish.

An official of the church who declined to have his name on print told our correspondent that the robbers also collected laptops, cash, electronic appliances, and other valuables belonging to the Reverend fathers and Sisters.

Sources said the gunmen gained entry into the church by climbing through a ladder at a section of Sacred Heart College which shares same vicinity with the church.

The robbers were said to have avoided using the main gate of the church and cut the burglary proof to the building to enable them gain entrance into the building.

A resident added that before security agents who were on patrol could get to the church, the robbers had escape through a local route shooting in all direction to scare residents. The poor state of roads in the area was said to have prevented any effort to chase the robbers.

When our correspondent visited the church, worshipers and sympathizers were seen in groups discussing the development. A man identified as the head of the Rev. Fathers in the parish refused a request to speak to 247ureports.com on the incident.
