Yuletide seasons usually witnesses unprecedented level of crime just as the Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has arrested nine dare-devil kidnappers with their accomplice a Native Doctor.
The Native Doctor is alleged to be behind some charms used and deployed by the kidnappers which makes them invisible from the radar of security operatives in the state for quiet an appreciable length of time.
The eagle-eyed operatives of the anti-kidnapping unit recently made arrest of the nine notorious suspected kidnappers.
Their arrest came as a result of the alleged case of kidnap of one Adiza Ogbo, who is confirmed to be late and the wife of the Igwe of Ogogoro Igbo-eze north local government area of Enugu state who was allegedly abducted by men suspected to be kidnappers on 14/9/13 and taken to an unknown destination.
It was gathered that following the kidnap of another woman who is believed to be about eighty-four years old, Commissioner of Police, Enugu state command, Adamu Abubakar Mohammed, directed for a full scale investigations which has hitherto led to the arrest of suspects namely; Paschal Onah alias Achisa,Uche Ugwu,Chinwendu Adonu,Chikodi Idoko,Martin Okpe a native doctor,Mamman Okechukwu,Ofobuike Okpe,Christain Onah and Friday Eze.
They were arrested after a severe gun duel with the operatives recently when they were tracked to their hideouts which left some of them injured.
Meanwhile,the leader of the gang Paschal Onah alias Achisa has disclosed how he and his gang had carried out the kidnap of the late Madam Adisa Ogbo and how she was eventually buried by him and his gang in his compound where they have kept her awaiting for the payment of the sum of ten million naira as ransom.
A week later according to the gang leader,”the madam died and we decided to bury her in a shallow grave inside my compound which i turned into a dumping ground for kidnap victims.”
He revealed that he also collected the sum of three hundred thousand naira from the family of the victim after the death of the woman unknown to their relations that the woman is late.
He further disclosed that his gang used to work hand-in-hand with the native doctor who normally prepares charm for the gang and that they usually give the native doctor Ram and the sum of N30,000 or N50,000 naira respectively depending on the proceeds of their ransom.
He however regretted his action and advised people to stay out of crime and criminality as ones sin is bound to catch-up with him someday.
Items recovered from the gang includes; one double barrel gun cut to size,one revolver pistol and a locally made pistol.
Meanwhile, manhunt on the other fleeing members of the gang is ongoing even as the state Commissioner of Police has applauded the efforts of his operatives and good people of the state for their assistance which led to the arrest of the hoodlums and has assured that the state command will continue to work hard to ensure safety and security of people in the state and urged members of the public to make judicious use of the numbers giving to them by the command for information.
