South East based youth group, Dikeogu Youths Fans Association of Nigeria (DYFAN) has began mobilizing support for President Goodluck Jonathan to re-contest for the presidency in 2015.
In a chat with journalists in Aba, National President of the group, Mr. Emmanuel Nwoke urged Igbo youths to not only support the president’s policies and programmes, but to ensure that Jonathan was returned as the country’s president in 2015.
Nwoke said that the group after analyzing Jonathan’s performance since president, he became has done a lot to better the economic, social and political status of Nigeria as well as the interest of the Igbo people.
He posited that the return of Jonathan in 2015 would boost the chance of the Igbo people to produce the next Nigeria president in 2019.
Nwoke also added that the return of the president in 2015 would enable him to fulfill some of his 2011 campaign promises to the people of the South East zone.
“Jonathan has embarked on many meaningful developmental projects such as the construction of the second Niger Bridge in Onitsha, a project too dear to the Ndigbo. Secondly, his sharing of political offices and upholding of federal character principles in job allocation and employment shows he is a detribalized Nigerian.
“It was based on the president’s performances in office so far that our group has resolved to mobilize Igbo youths across the federation for him in 2015. We believe that his second term in office would be to the benefit of the nation and Ndigbo in particular,” Nwoke said.
