The Ngige Campaign Organisation hereby wishes to refute the statement credited to Valentine Obienyem, the SSA Media to the Anambra State Governor, that the stampede which killed over 30 people had anything to do with Senator Ngige or his supporters. Responding on behalf of the Ngige Campaign Organisation, Mr. Igboeli Arinze, dismissed the statement as lies emanating from the very pit of hell.
We have it as empirical evidence that when the Governor came to the adoration grounds, he began to campaign for his candidate, Mr. Willie Obianio, this largely irked the congregants who began to gently protest that the adoration ground was a place of prayer and not politics.
In the course of the governor leaving the premises of the prayer ground, the governor’s security agents in their overzealousness began to manhandle the crowd all in the name of wanting to secure their principal, this we hear was actually what caused the stampede.
We regret that such a situation could have been avoided if the APGA campaign team did not visit the adoration ground at that ungodly hour to campaign for votes. We urge the APGA campaign team to see the house of God as a place of prayer and not a place to play politics.
We also condemn the attempt by Anambra State Government to shift the blame to the ” So called Ngige supporters” as another cheap and desperate effort to cover up the heinous crime committed against fellow Anambrarians, whose only crime was that they went to seek spiritual succor from the distress caused by poor governance in Anambra.
We urge Governor Peter Obi to accept full responsibility for his callous actions and his insensitivity and cease to indulge in an infantile blame game. More importantly, he should pray for God’s forgiveness and allow the Almighty to have his way in the forthcoming elections.
Finally we at the Senator Ngige Campaign Organization hereby pray for the repose of the souls while sending our condolences to those who lost their loved ones or have either friends or family as amongst the injured. We pray that the Almighty God should grant the families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss while wishing the injured quick recovery.
