Information reaching 247ureports.com indicates that the Senator representing the south senatorial district of Anambra State, Andy Uba told his followers at his hometown in Uga, Aguata local government area (LGA) that the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Jega would be called up for questioning at the senate floor by the senate committee on electoral matters.
According to Senator Uba – who also chairs the senate committee on electoral matter – Prof Jega has questions to answer over the gross mismanagement of the recent gubernatorial elections in Anambra. The Senator made the declaration following his attempt to vote at his hometown in Uga.
The election in Anambra, according to available information did not “go well”. The exercise was plagued by mix up of voters register belonging to towns.some of the sensitive materials were said to be missing at the many polling units deemed critical to the outcome of the election. Many would-be voters were also reported to not be able to locate their names inside the voters register – and thus could not cast their vote.
In other areas of Anambra, election materials were reported to have not arrived before the 12noon deadline for accreditation. In parts of Idenmili North LGA and Awka South LGA were reported to have not received their election materials before the end of voting.
Meanwhile, the INEC has announced the cancellation of the election at 65 wards. The election was rescheduled for tomorrow – for between 8am and 12noon.
