According to the information gathered, the group assembled by the Governor, Peter Obi – following a closed door meeting yesterday [November 6, 2013] at a hotel near the Government lounge in Awka [Trig point] – resolved to bring a legal case against Senator Chris Ngige – who also happens to be the gubernatorial candidate for the All Progressive Congress [APC].

As gathered from a source who was present at the closed door meeting, the group intents to bring about a lawsuit against Senator Chris Ngige for the supposed rigging of the 2003 gubernatorial elections by the then Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] under the leadership of Chris Uba and General Obasanjo. The lawsuit, according to the source, would seek for the courts to charge Ngige with the rigging of the 2003 elections. The suit will also seek for damages to be levied against Senator Ngige.

The funding for the suit is reportedly coming from Governor Peter Obi. He will fund the lawsuit and also provide other assistance to the group.

The group, which has yet to adopt a name – is expected to file the suit tomorrow or early next week. According to the body language at the meeting, the group will file the suit as an independent body that has no links with the Anambra State governor or the party, All Progressive Grand Alliance [APGA].

The idea for the suit came from a friend of Governor Peter Obi who recently returned from the United States of America [USA] to join the Peter Obi/Willie Obiano campaign team.
