A group, Ohaji-Egbema Solidarity Front (OESF), yesterday hailed the Imo State Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha and his Deputy Prince Eze Madumere for giving out a 500million naira youth empowerment fund to Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta youths. In a statement in Owerri, the Imo State capital and made available to newsmen by its Publicity Secretary, Mrs. Chinonye Akor , OESF said this showed Okorocha’s deep concern for human resources development and youth empowerment.
The group attributed the lack of development and backwardness of Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta to the attitude of their past leaders who were self-seeking, stressing that the areas have been in bondage for a long time .The group also praised the Imo State oil producing area development commission boss Prince Henry Okafor for the manner the loan was disbursed to the youths of the area.
It appealed to the Imo Governor to try and press the right button so that Ohaji/Egbema can get electricity in this yuletide and hailed the administration for maintaining peace in Imo State as against the recent past when banditry was the order of the day. OESF also said that the free education in Imo state and other achievements of the Okorocha’s administration in the last two years were pointers to the populist programmes of the governor.
While describing the involvement in APC of the governor as what would strengthen Imo State the group urged the people to support the Okorocha’s administration. It however warned politicians in the state to stop spreading falsehood about the activities of government. The group frown at a satirical item published recently in the social media purporting that the Imo Deputy Governor Prince Eze Madumere and his boss Governor Okorocha were at loggerhead and that the Deputy Governor has been given 90 days to resign by the State Governor. The false story the group said originated in Crime Facts online which due to its too many fake news stories is branded a satirical news site.
Mrs Chinonye Akor pointed out that no right-wing media outlets would fall for such hoax stressing that Eze Madumere’s loyalty to Governor Okorocha can never be in doubt. According to her, Madumere is one of the good Nigerian politicians in Okorocha’s team. That he is a breath of fresh air compared to anyone who has held the position of Deputy Governor in Imo State. The group wondered why Madumer’s rising profile in Imo State politics as well as his closeness with Governor Okorocha have become a source of worry to some politicians who are making all effort to negatively define him and called on politicians in the state to stop playing politics with bitterness.
