Iran is reportedly planning to increase its production of five percent enriched uranium, local official news agency said.
Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) quoted the head of Iran’s nuclear department, Ali Akbar Salehi, as saying that machines, which were earlier producing 20 percent enriched uranium, will now be engaged in producing low-level enriched uranium, Fox News reports.
Iran’s nuclear facilities will continue their work and only production of 20 percent enriched uranium will halt, the report added.
The statement is the first after Iran agreed to freeze part of its nuclear activities last weekend in exchange for easing of some sanctions placed on the country by world powers.
