GOVERNMENT HOUSE, OWERRI
PRESS RELEASE
The Imo State governor has ordered for the immediate reconstruction of all magistrate courts in the state to a befitting standard.
The governor gave the order during his inspection visit to Nwaorieubi Magistrate Court, Mbaitoli LGA where he frowned at the rate of dilapidation of the office block and court complex.
Governor Okorocha wondered why past administrations subjected the workers to what he described as “totally unacceptable environment that could dampen the moral of the magistrates”. He therefore assured them that his administration which has commenced reconstruction work at Owerri Magistrate court will extend same to all other magistrate courts in the state within the next few months and called for their support.
The governor maintained that his administration was working hard to ensure the completion of road works in Nwaorieubi, Umuaka, Anara, Amaraku and other areas with adequate street lights put in place to transform the areas into a modern city.
He therefore called on all Imolites to give him maximum cooperation to realize his vision which is people-oriented adding that all the on-going projects in the state must be completed before March 2013 for more projects to be introduced.
Responding on behalf of the staff of the magistrate court, Dr [Mrs] C.C. Anyanwu said, governor Okorocha’s visit was the first of its kind and thanked him for his concern. She assured him of their loyalty and continued dedication to duty.
