Information available to 247ureports.com through competent sources in Awka, Anambra State indicate that the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] in Awka was visited by a multiple convoy belonging to the Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi and other All Progressive Grand Alliance [APGA] leaders.

The visit which appeared abrupt – came at about 3:30pm today [Monday]. The convoy belonging to Hon. Uche Ekwunife was seen arriving the INEC office in Awka in the company of the Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi along with other APGA stalwarts.

It is uncertain the purpose of the august visit to the INEC office but the arrival of Hon. Uche Ekwunife points speculators who spoke to our correspondent to an unfolding legal case concerning the double voters registration of the APGA gubernatorial candidate, Willie Obiano.

Willie Obiano is reported to have registered twice [double registration – one in Lagos and another in Anambra] – of which may result in the  disqualification of his candidateship. Already, a concerned group had sued for the disqualification of Willie Obiano from taking part in the gubernatorial elections of November 16, 2013.

It is reported that should Willie Obiano be disqualified – that the next runner up in the APGA’s gubernatorial primaries – will replace Willie Obiano. Hon. Uche Ekwunife was the runner up.

It is unsure if the visit to the INEC has to do with the pending case on the double registration charge on Willie Obiano. But information available to 247ureports.com through sources in Abuja reveal that the Peter Obi led APGA has been occupied with behind the scenes ‘horse-trading’ to avert the disqualification of Willie Obiano. An impeccable source revealed that Governor Peter Obi’s men had offered an INEC Commissioner the sum of N500million to rectify the double registration mess. The money was offered to Ismail Igbani, an INEC commissioner notorious for rigging of elections. Igbani’s expertise is in the area of rigging elections for the ruling party.

However, Igbani was reported to have turned down the N500million because the ‘cat has already been let out of the bag’. Igbani indicated that the documents proving that he had committed the offense of double registration were already in the hands of other political parties – particularly, the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP]. Igbani reportedly told Peter Obi’s men to return to Awka – and find a means to rectify it there.

In talking to the Resident Electoral Officer [REC], Mr. Onukaogu concerning the double registration charge – he responded in anger and frustration indicating that he was too tired to answer such questions. He went on to state that our correspondent should concern himself with other issues.

In talking to the State Chairman of APGA in Anambra, Mike Kwento, he indicated that he was not aware of the visit to the INEC. He admitted that he if the visit occurred that he may not know. He then requested to know more about the visit.
